TUCSON, Ariz. – Florida Gulf Coast beach volleyball (14-9) battled, but came up short, 3-2, at Arizona (17-7) on Friday in Tucson.
Earlier in the day, FGCU
took down No. 14 Hawaii 3-2 for its first ranked win of 2026.Â
"This day was exactly what collegiate beach volleyball was all about," head coach Chris Sweat said. "Intense competition, huge rallies, and all the highs and lows that come with competing against some top programs in the country. We played some great volleyball against an extremely physical Hawaii team, and Arizona showed us exactly why they've been such a consistently dominant, and well coached program for so many years. The girls are all learning and growing and getting better every day and we're looking forward to tomorrow."
Andrea Dietz and
Sydney Majick took their second win of the day in two sets, winning 25-23, 21-18.
Vanessa Moriarty and
Emma Soncrant also earned another win on court 5, 21-17, 21-17. The Wildcats prevailed on courts 1 and 2, and secured the team victory on court 4 in the only three set match of the contest.
Next, FGCU continues the Wildcat Spring Classic on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET / 11:30 a.m. PT against No. 18 South Carolina.
