HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – No. 3 seed Florida Gulf Coast (19-14) cruised to a 5-0 opening round win at the 2026 ASUN Beach Volleyball Championship over No. 6 seed Eastern Kentucky (17-12).
"It's great to get that first one under your belt," head coach Chris Sweat said. "EKU is well coached and a very good ball control team that put us in some tough spots, so it was great to win on all courts. We're looking forward to the rest of the tournament."
ASUN All-Freshman team selection
Vanessa Moriarty started FGCU off on court five with
Emma Soncrant. The pair won 21-19, 21-9. First team All-ASUN honoree
Nicole De Oliveira won 21-14, 21-13 with
Erin Miller, who made the second team All-ASUN, on court two.
Alexis Keeter and
Ava Lilliquist clinched the match seconds after De Oliveira and Miller's win with a 21-16, 21-12 win on court one.

Kaitlyn Beck and
Kristina Gluc kept it going with a 21-17, 21-11 win, also in short fashion after the Eagles had clinched the match.
Andrea Dietz &
Sydney Majick secured the sweep with a 21-11, 19-21, 15-9 win.
Next, the Eagles play at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 23 against the winner of No. 2 seed North Florida and No. 7 seed Central Arkansas
