FORT MYERS, Fla. - Christian Figueredo has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Thursday.

The junior from Miami, Fla., turned in an outstanding performance at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island, leading the Eagles with a tie for 10th at 10-under (206) after rounds of 69, 66, and 71, helping FGCU secure a share of the team championship.

The junior opened the event with a 3-under 69, recording birdies on holes two, seven, nine, 10, and 17 before following with a 6-under 66 in the second round that featured birdies on holes two, three, five, seven, eight, 15, and 16 along with an eagle on the par-four sixth. Figueredo carried that momentum into the final round, carding a 1-under 71 with birdies on holes one, three, four, and five on the front nine before adding another birdie on the back nine. His aggressive scoring throughout the tournament resulted in 17 total birdies, tying for the sixth-most in the field.

"I'm really proud of Christian," said Head Coach Andrew Danna. "He played really consistent golf all week."

The Eagles will return to action March 15-17 at the Michael A. Marino Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, held at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club and hosted by Coastal Carolina.
