Eagles Claim Share of Team Title at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - The Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf team closed out The Johnnie-O at Sea Island in impressive fashion on Tuesday, firing a 10-under final round to earn a share of the team championship alongside Georgia Southern at the Sea Island Resort – Plantation Course. The co-championship marks FGCU's second team title of the season.

The Eagles finished the tournament at 42-under par, tying Georgia Southern for the top spot in a competitive 15-team field, which featured four top 50 schools. FGCU's steady play throughout the final round allowed the Eagles to hold their position atop the leaderboard and secure the co-championship.

How It Happened
Christian Figueredo led the way for the Eagles in the final round, carding a 1-under 71 to finish the tournament tied for 10th at 10-under overall. Figueredo recorded birdies on holes one, three, four, and five on the front nine before adding another birdie on the back nine to help FGCU maintain momentum during the closing round. His strong performance throughout the tournament included 17 total birdies, tying for the sixth-most in the field.

Nolan Harper finished tied for 12th overall at 9-under after posting a 1-over 73 in the final round. Harper added an eagle on the par-five fourth and a birdie on the par-four 13th during Tuesday's round and finished the week tied for the second-most eagles in the field with two while also tying for the seventh-most pars with 38.

Sebastian Gamboa delivered another solid performance for the Eagles in the final round, shooting a 1-under 71 to finish tied for 21st at 7-under overall. Gamboa recorded birdies on holes 14, 15, and 17 during the closing round and finished the tournament tied for the fifth-most pars in the field with 39.

Sacha Ruiz wrapped up the tournament with an even-par 72 in the final round to finish tied for 21st at 7-under. Ruiz carded a pair of birdies in both the front and back nine during the round and ended the event tied for the 16th-most birdies in the field with 14 while also tying for the 31st-most pars with 34.

Brett Moore produced the lowest round of the day for FGCU, firing an impressive 8-under 64 to surge up the leaderboard and finish tied for 27th at 6-under overall. Moore's round was highlighted by multiple birdies throughout the day and helped power the Eagles to their final-round team score. He finished the tournament tied for the fourth-most birdies in the field with 18.

Competing as an individual, Tom Scullion closed the tournament with a 7-over 79 to finish 83rd overall at 19-over.

As a team, the Eagles finished tied for the fourth-most birdies in the tournament with 70 while recording the fewest bogeys in the entire field with just 21 across the three rounds. FGCU's strong final-round push ultimately secured the Eagles a share of the team title at the Sea Island Resort.

The Eagles will return to action March 15-17 at the Michael A. Marino Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, held at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club and hosted by Coastal Carolina.
