ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -Â The Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf team sits atop the leaderboard after the opening two rounds of The Johnnie-O at Sea Island, posting a two-round total of 32-under par at the Sea Island Resort - Plantation Course on Monday.
FGCU fired rounds of 12-under and 20-under to build a three-shot lead over Georgia Southern and four shots ahead of No. 42 Kansas heading into Tuesday's final round. FGCU's lineup delivered a strong collective effort through the opening two rounds, with
Nolan Harper leading the way at 10-under after rounds of 70 and 64.
Christian Figueredo sits close behind at 9-under following rounds of 69 and 66, while
Sacha Ruiz posted scores of 67 and 70 to move to 7-under.
Sebastian Gamboa rounds out the Eagles inside the top 20 at 6-under after carding rounds of 70 and 68, giving FGCU four players firmly in contention heading into the final round.

Harper leads the way for FGCU at 10-under through two rounds after posting scores of 70 and 64, sitting in fifth overall. In the opening round, Harper carded a 2-under 70 with birdies on holes one, four, and eight before shooting par on every hole on the back nine. He followed that performance with a stellar 8-under 64 in round two, highlighted by birdies on holes four, five, eight, 10, 11, and 12 along with an eagle on the par-five 14th. Harper has recorded just one bogey through 36 holes, playing the remaining 35 holes at par or better, and is tied for the 22nd-most birdies in the field with nine while also ranking tied for 10th in pars with 25.
Figueredo sits just one shot behind at 9-under following rounds of 69 and 66, sitting in sixth overall. He opened the tournament with a 3-under 69, recording birdies on holes two, seven, nine, 10, and 17. The junior followed with a 6-under 66 in the second round, highlighted by birdies on holes two, three, five, seven, eight, 15, and 16 along with an eagle on the par-four sixth. Figueredo has been one of the tournament's most aggressive scorers, tying for the sixth-most birdies in the field with 12.
Ruiz currently sits at 7-under after rounds of 67 and 70, placing him in a tie for 13th overall. Ruiz was impressive in the first round, firing a 5-under 67 behind birdies on holes one, four, 10, 11, 13,14, and 15. He followed with a steady 2-under 70 in round two, adding birdies on holes seven, eight, and 18. Ruiz is tied for the 16th-most birdies in the field with 10 and tied for 17th in pars with 24.
Gamboa is also inside the top 20 at 6-under following rounds of 70 and 68, placing him in a tie for 16th. In the opening round, Gamboa carded a 2-under 70 with birdies on holes four, seven, 12, and 13. He improved in round two with a 4-under 68, highlighted by birdies on holes one, two, eight, and 18. Gamboa has also shown strong consistency throughout the event, tying for the fourth-most pars in the field with 26 while adding eight birdies.
Brett Moore rounded out the Eagles' scoring lineup with rounds of 75 and 71 to sit at 2-over through 36 holes, placing him in a tie for 60th overall. Moore posted a 3-over 75 in the opening round, recording birdies on holes one, 10, 13, and 14, before bouncing back with a 1-under 71 in the second round highlighted by birdies on holes one, five, seven, eight, 11, and 15. Moore is tied for the 16th-most birdies in the field with 10.
Competing as an individual,
Tom Scullion has recorded rounds of 76 and 80 through two rounds, placing him in a tie for 82nd. Scullion opened with a 4-over 76 highlighted by a birdie on hole eight and 13, and followed with an 8-over 80 in the second round, adding birdie on hole seven. He currently ranks tied for 27th in the field with 23 pars.
As a team, the Eagles have been among the most efficient squads in the field. FGCU has produced 49 birdies through two rounds, the third-most of any team in the tournament, while also recording the fewest bogeys in the field with just 13. The Eagles have also demonstrated exceptional consistency throughout the lineup, highlighted by Harper's near-flawless round and Gamboa's strong par production.
