Meanwhile, the Eagles (4-1) aim to extend their recent success against the Bulls (0-2), having won two of the past three meetings over USF but remain looking for the program's first win in Tampa.
Friday's match comes as
June Bjork recently entered the national rankings at No. 112 in singles. The sophomore from Sweden is currently 6-4 this season in singles with a 3-1 mark in dual match action and is the
first Eagle to receive a national ranking in singles since 2023.
Anjali Kotecha and
Nora Svensson, ranked as high as 82
nd so far this year, inexplicably fell out of the national rankings this week despite remaining undefeated (10-0) in doubles play this year. The duo's stretch remained unblemished after handing Miami's Maria Vargas and Daria Volosova their first dual match doubles loss of the season, 7-5, on Jan. 21.
FGCU head coach
Courtney Vernon, currently in her 13
th year in Fort Myers, is 145-100 (.592) and leads a young Eagle squad that has no seniors and just one junior on the roster. This match marks yet another return for the 2012 USF alumna.
