GREENSBORO, N.C. – A change of scenery didn't distract FGCU's men's tennis team from its goal. Despite Friday's match at Elon being moved to Greensboro and to an indoor facility, the Eagles claimed a 4-2 win over the Phoenix.
FGCU (2-8) claimed four singles victories to clinch the match as the Eagles began a stretch of three matches in three days. Friday's match marked the first time FGCU and Elon have met on the courts.
Elon secured the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Nick Fisk and Charles Pilet defeated
Stefan Correa and
Pablo Paternostro 6-3 at No. 2 doubles, while Oskar Antinheimo and Rafael Ymer clinched the point with a 6-4 win over
Mika Bunjes and
Gustav Hasslegren at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, the Eagles rebounded strongly.
