Women's tennis opens spring season at Miami Wednesday

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Florida Gulf Coast University women's tennis team will open the spring season at Miami on Wednesday at noon before returning home to host St. John's on Friday at 10 a.m.

Junior Nora Svensson was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Preseason Player of the Year and joined teammate Anjali Kotecha on the ASUN preseason team. Last season, Svensson was named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team and earned 12 singles victories.

Kotecha opened her rookie campaign with a standout season and was named ASUN Freshman of the Year. She finished with a 14–6 overall record, including a 7–2 mark in league play.

The Eagles return four of eight players from the 2025 roster and have added freshmen Sabarina Jaramillo, Africa Burillo and Cecillie Johannessen Maeland. Transfer June Bjork joins the Green & Blue from SMU.

FGCU finished the 2025 season with a 12–9 overall record, including a 6–3 record in ASUN play.

St. John's went 14–7 overall with a 5–1 record in the Big East last season, while Miami finished 10–13 overall and 4–8 in ACC action in 2025.
