GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Florida Gulf Coast University women's golf team wrapped up the Lady Paladin Invitational on Sunday afternoon, a three-day event hosted by Furman University. Freshman
Jordan Fischer tied for a second-place individual finish to lead the way for the Eagles, who tied for fifth with a team score of three-over par.
Fischer shot a seven-under for the weekend, just one stroke behind individual champion Harriet Lockley of Alabama. Fischer's first round included eight birdies and a score of five-under, the best individual round score of the entire weekend.
Islay Benoit finished at three-over, tying for 27th place, with
Sydney Deal and
Amelie Alcantara following at six-over to land in a seven-way tie for 34th.
Lousiane Gauthier's mark of 8-over was good enough to tie for 45th, rounding out the scoring for the Eagles.
Fischer went on to add nine birdies over the final two rounds for a three-round total of 17, good enough to lead the field in that category. As a team, FGCU tied with team champion Alabama, totaling 53 total birdies for the weekend.
The Eagles return to the links on Monday, September 29th when they open Florida International's Pat Bradley Invitational in Doral.
