FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University head men's basketball coach
Pat Chambers is happy to announce the addition of Chase Konieczny to the 2025-26 roster. Konieczny will be a true freshman and is the brother of incoming transfer J.R. Konieczny.
"Chase is a relentless basketball player," Chambers said. "He's a high-level shooter that's extremely athletic and plays the game with a lot of grit and toughness. He's a true competitor that knows how to win and will do whatever it takes to help his team win."
With the older Konieczny having an additional year of eligibility, this will be the first time that the two brothers have ever played on the same team together.
Chase Konieczny just completed his prep career at St. Joseph's High School in South Bend, Indiana. He completed his career on the highest of notes, throwing down a put-back dunk with 52.2 seconds left to give St. Joe's the lead for good in the Indiana Class 3A State Championship.
He completed his high school career with 2,138 points. In the deep history of basketball in the state of Indiana, Konieczny's total ranks 44th all-time.
The Koniecznys will be the second set of brothers on the FGCU team, joining
BB Washington and his brother, incoming transfer George Washington III.
