FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University men's basketball released its 2025 schedule on Wednesday.
"Our nonconference goal is to challenge our guys, face different styles and compete in hostile environments so we're fully prepared for ASUN play," head coach
Pat Chambers said.
The Eagles tip off 2025 at home against New College of Florida Nov. 3 before heading to Champaign to take on the Fighting Illini for the first time in program history Nov. 7. The Eagles' lone win in program history over a current Big 10 team came in 2022 with a 74-61 road win over USC.
FGCU will square off with the Eagles of Georgia Southern on Veteran's Day. The contest marks Georgia Southern's first trip to Alico Arena since 2020; FGCU leads the all-time series 4-2.
A pair of games from the ASUN-SoCon scheduling alliance follows. The Eagles welcome another first-time opponent to Fort Myers in Chattanooga Nov. 15 before traveling to Birmingham to play Samford Nov. 19.
A pre-Thanksgiving MTE from November 24-26 in Fort Myers will feature FGCU, Oral Roberts, Rice and Kennesaw State. Rice marks the third inaugural opponent of the season for FGCU, the Golden Eagles will come to Fort Myers for just the second time ever and third game in the series between the two squads, and FGCU will renew an old conference matchup with Kennesaw State.
Tickets for this event are not included in season ticket or mini plan packages and will be available at a later date.
December begins with a pair of marquee in-state matchups, starting with a trip to Miami to face Florida International Dec. 3 before Florida Atlantic travels to Alico Arena Dec. 7. FGCU looks to continue its success against in-state foe FAU after earning a thrilling buzzer-beating victory on the road last year.
The final nonconference road trip begins with a trip to New Mexico to face the Lobos in the vaunted Pit Dec. 14. The matchup is the program's second all-time in the Mountain Time Zone; the only previous contest was a 2007 trip to Arizona State.
A to be determined game at UCF is slated before Christmas, and the nonconference slate concludes with a Dec. 28 home game against the University of Fort Lauderdale.
