Deiros to be honored on May 2

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Founding father of Florida Gulf Coast University softball David Deiros will be recognized during his final series at FGCU on May 2 when the Eagles take on North Florida.

First pitch for the doubleheader on May 2 is scheduled for 4 p.m. Festivities will start 20 minutes before first pitch. Tickets can be purchased using the link above.

Deiros is the only head coach FGCU softball has ever known. During his tenure he has compiled over 800 career victories and coached his student-athletes to 12 major Atlantic Sun Conference awards. Deiros received conference recognition of his own in 2016, earning ASUN Coach of the Year. His career achievements are encapsulated by NCAA tournament appearances in 2012 and 2024, and 36 wins over power conference opponents.

Currently, the Eagles sit at 7-2 in the ASUN, second in the graphite division, and are 20-20 on the year. The team has two remaining homestands in 2025, taking on Stetson (4/18-4/19) and North Florida (5/2-5/3).
