Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf finished seventh on Tuesday at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial for its regular season finale in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The No. 51 Eagles opened the event Monday, firing on all cylinders in round one. FGCU climbed to the top of the leaderboard at 11-under-per during its first nine, leading three top 30-ranked teams. FCGU closed round one in third place at five-under.
FGCU slid down the leaderboard as the day drew on and into sixth place after two rounds of play. The Eagles finished the tournament 23-over par. No. 11 Florida State won the team title at 15-under, and No. 13 Virginia placed second at six-under. No. 27 Northwestern came in third at two-under.
Christian Figueredo led all Eagles in Charlottesville with a 19th-place performance. Figueredo penciled in a three-under, 68 on Monday and followed with a 73 and 74, closing Tuesday's action at two-over.
Freshman
Nolan Harper continued his recent individual hot streak early into the event. Harper shot a team-low, four-under 67 in the opening round and entered the final round tied for sixth. Harper would finish 32nd.
Sebastian Gamboa climbed up the leaderboard Tuesday for a top-25 effort at four-over.
FGCU shifts its focus to the ASUN Championship in Valdosta, Georgia, scheduled for April 22-24.
