The Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf team finished tied for second out of 13 teams at The Johnnie-O at Sea Land Resort hosted by Rutgers University on St. Simon Island, Georgia.
FGCU was third following the first day after shooting a four-over par (284). The Eagles on day two shot a four-under-par (276) as a team and saw themselves as high as first. Then tied for first before finishing tied for second with Marquette University at even par. The University of Cincinnati, who was eight over-par going into the final round shot a nine under-par to win the event.
Nolan Harper paced the Eagles as he finished tied for fourth and was the only FGCU player to shoot under par for the event with a three-under-par (72-65-137). He finished with a five-under-par on the final day as he drained six birdies with a bogey-free front nine.
Teammate
Brett Moore tied for 13
th with a one-over-par shooting after shooting even on the final day, while
Christian Figueredo shot two-over-par to finish tied for 23
rd shooting a match-low three-under-par in round two.
Sebastian Gamboa tied for 31
st with a three-over-par over the two days. Â He posted a bogey-free front nine on day one and two.
Tom Scullion shot a six-over-par for the match while posting a low two-over-par after round one. He finished tied for 50
th.
FGCU's
Sacha Ruiz played as an independent to finish tied for 31
st with a three-over-par while shooting a one-under-par in the final round.
The Eagles are back in action when they take part in the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate on April 7-8 in Estero, Florida.
