FORT MYERS, Fla. — Florida Gulf Coast University men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the 2025 NCAA Division I South Regional Championships, Friday, November 14th. The race will take place at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama.
For the women, FGCU will be one of 36 schools competing, and on the men's side, one of 35 schools set to compete on Friday.
The women's 6K race is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET, and the men's 10K race will begin immediately afterward at 10:30 a.m. ET.
The Eagles are coming off the ASUN Championship, where on the women's side,
Ozia Trujillo led the Eagles with a championship record-breaking time of 16:20 and was named ASUN Runner of the Year, while
Alise Petrova and
Tess Shultz ran 17:34 and 17:35, respectively, helping the team to strong overall results.
Addison Torres,
Samantha Ruiz, and
Mercy Kosgei also posted key finishes. For the men,
Siyabonga Mokgothu ran a personal best of 24:22 in the 8K, the third-fastest time in program history, placing 21st.
Innocent Ntwali and
Hector Toro added a season-best 25:05 and a lifetime best 25:16, respectively, with
Nekhi Perry and
Jacob Leon rounding out the top five.
The men's team finished eighth overall, but head coach
Argeo Cruz emphasized the team's potential for improvement and their focus on qualifying for nationals at the regional.
