FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU's distance runners will get one final test in the spring season as the Eagles head to Atlanta on Friday evening for the Georgia Tech Invitational.
The women's 5,000-meter race is set to begin at 9:10 p.m., while the men's 5K will begin at 9:30 p.m. Live results will be
available here.
Addison Torres leads the FGCU women's convocation as she has been inching towards a new personal best time in the 5K. Torres ran a season-best time of 18:00.60 at the UCF Black & Gold Invite on March 20, just five seconds off her career-best mark of 17:55.46, which she clocked last year at the Tampa Classic. Tess Schultz, who ran a personal record time of 18:24.10 at the Tampa Spartans Classic on March 13 of this year, will join Torres in the race.
On the men's side,
Innocent Ntwali looks to beat his season-best time of 14:38.92. He clocked that as he finished third at the Tampa Spartans Open on Feb. 21 and enters Friday's race with a goal of setting a new career-best time, topping the mark of 14:34.78 he ran in 2023.
Evan Casterline (14:55.69) and
Jacob Leon (15:01.49) each have posted PR times in the 5K this year and look to beat those Friday evening.
