JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —
Siyabonga Mokgothu ran a personal best of 24:22 to lead the Florida Gulf Coast University men's cross‑country team at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship 8K.
Mokgothu's time is now the third-best in FGCU history and earned him 21st place this morning. The Eagles scored 221 points and finished eighth among 12 teams. Eastern Kentucky won the team title with 16 points.
Innocent Ntwali posted a season best of 25:05 to place 45th.
Hector Toro ran a lifetime best of 25:16 and finished 50th.
Nekhi Perry was 67th in 25:49.
Jacob Leon rounded out the top five for the Green & Blue, stopping the clock at 26:21 and taking 88th.
"We had a rough performance on the men's side today. Our men's team had a fast start, but unfortunately, it did not pay off for us. We are capable of a much better performance, so we will reflect on the race and improve from here on," said head coach Argeo Cruz.
The Eagles return to action Nov. 14 in Huntsville, Alabama for the NCAA South Regionals.
