FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast women's soccer clinched the Graphite Division championship and home postseason games as one of the ASUN Championship hosts on Saturday.
The Eagles earned the top seed in the Graphite Division behind a 8-1-1 mark in ASUN play, and sealed the Graphite Division championship after Jacksonville's tie against Queens before FGCU earned a 6-2 win over Stetson. FGCU is led by the nation's leading goal scorer in senior midfielder
Erika Zschuppe, who set a single-season program record with 21 goals for her senior campaign. Senior forward
Kendal Gargiula has formed a potent 1-2 punch with Zschuppe, as no duo has more combined goals (30) than Gargiula and Zschuppe.
FGCU will play host to the Graphite Division's No. 3 seed, North Florida along with the No. 2 and No. 4 seeds from the Gold Division, EKU and Bellarmine.
The quarterfinals will begin with the EKU-North Florida game at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 at Pickering Field. The Eagles will follow against Bellarmine at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30. The semifinal match will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2.
The host for the ASUN Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 9 will be the participating team with the higher division seed. If two teams with the same seed play, RPI will be used as the tiebreaker.
