Women's soccer begins ASUN Championship against Bellarmine

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast women's soccer will begin the 2025 ASUN Championship in the quarterfinals against Bellarmine at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30.

Thursday marks the second time the Eagles and Knights will meet in the postseason; the first ASUN Championship meeting was also the Knights lone win in the series. After a 1-1 tie in regulation, Bellarmine won 4-3 in PKs in Fort Myers. Four years and one day later, the two teams will meet at Pickering Field in the ASUN Championship again.

Senior midfielder Erika Zschuppe is closing her collegiate soccer career while playing the best soccer of her life. The Kirtland, Ohio, product leads the NCAA with 21 goals on the season. Zschuppe's Sunday brace gave her ten consecutive games with a goal dating back to Sept. 11. That mark is the longest active goal scoring streak in the NCAA this season.

Colorado's Hope Leyba (18), Notre Dame's Izzy Engle and Duquesne's Maya Matesa (17) are the only players in the country within four goals of Zschuppe. Zschuppe also leads the country in total points with 44, although her margin is slightly slimmer in that category. Engle has 40, Xavier's Samantha Erbach has 42, Matesa has 39 and Leyba has 37.

The most consecutive games with a goal in FGCU women's soccer history now belongs to Zschuppe and Tabby Tindell, who also holds the program record for career goals and held the record for goals in a single season before Zschuppe broke it in the regular season finale. Tindell netted a goal in ten consecutive outings in 2016.

Senior forward Kendal Gargiula has had an excellent season in her own right. Her nine goals are second on the team and are tied for third in the ASUN. The North Fort Myers native also has six assists. Zschuppe and Gargiula's 30 combined goals is the most by any duo in the NCAA.

Elsewhere in the ASUN Championship, EKU and North Florida will meet at 3 p.m. at Pickering Field on Thursday, Oct. 30. On the other side of the bracket, Lipscomb will play host to Queens, and Jacksonville will face North Alabama.

The winners of the FGCU-Bellarmine and EKU-North Florida games will meet in the semifinals at Pickering Field at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2.
