LAKELAND, Fla. Ozia Trujillo won the individual title at the Ed Holloway XC Classic to help the Florida Gulf Coast University women's cross country team capture the overall championship.
Trujillo stopped the clock at 20:48 in the 6K, marking the fourth-fastest time in program history.
Tess Shultz followed closely behind, finishing second in 21:55 — the fastest 6K ever run by an FGCU freshman.
Alise Petrova placed fourth in 21:57, while
Addison Torres finished fifth in 22:49.
Samantha Ruiz crossed the line in 23:09 to take seventh place. All five Eagles ran personal bests to help secure the team victory.
The FGCU women scored 19 points to finish first among 13 teams.
The Eagles will return to action Oct. 31 in Jacksonville for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.
