Box Score A feverish 6-1 opening doubles match win on court three gave Florida Gulf Coast University men's tennis all the momentum it would need to defeat the Southern Miss Golden Eagles 6-1 in Orlando, Fla. at the USTA National Campus on Saturday.

Josh Molino said. "They have worked very hard, bought into the process and put forth excellent effort on all nine courts. We will use the next couple weeks to work on a few things and clean up some areas as we get ready for Florida on Feb 2."
The match started with
Harry Michalowski and
Pablo Paternostro taking their doubles match on court three 6-1. This gave the Eagles (1-4) the momentum to take the doubles point via a 7-5 win over the No.1 Southern Miss (0-2) pair.
With the doubles point secured and momentum on their side, the Green and Blue continued their dominance in singles action.
Hugo Magnusson won on court one, 6-2 and 6-2, closely followed by
Ninad Raut on court six, 6-1 and 6-3, to give FGCU the 3-0 match lead.
Johnathan Baron would clinch the match for the Eagles with a 7-6 (3), 6-2 performance on court two.
The match continued with
CJ Smith and
Stavros Hadjivarnava winning on courts four and five to give FGCU their sixth point on the day.
The Green and Blue will return to regular season action against Florida on Feb 2.
