Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf tied for eighth at the Bearcat Invitational Tuesday in Cincinnati, Ohio, with
Sebastian Gamboa earning a top 10 finish.

Andrew Danna said. "We found ourselves with a few mistakes to begin the day, but the team was able to hang in there and finish well. We are looking forward to our next opportunity to compete."
Gamboa made a charge during Tuesday's final round to highlight the Eagles' starting five, climbing up 13 spots on the player leaderboard to tie for 10th at even-par. Louisville's Sebastian Moss and Cincinnati's Ryan Ford were awarded co-champs at six-under. Louisville also won the team title at six-under-par, besting tournament host Cincinnati by six shots.
Gamboa entered the day tied for 23rd. He fired a two-under 69 Tuesday by penciling in four birdies. Gamboa opened the season with a one-under 70, followed by a three-over 74 in round two.
Tom Scullion, a Cumberland University transfer, tied for 17th in his debut with the Eagles. Scullion turned in two par or better rounds in his first D-I tournament. He closed Monday's action tied for ninth with his best round of the event, a one-under 70, and wrapped up Tuesday with a 74.
Freshman
Brett Moore carded a team-low, three-under 68 in Monday's opening round action but would finish tied for 47th on the leaderboard.
As a team, FGCU tied Little Rock and Middle Tennessee State for eighth overall at 15-over. FGCU produced a 291 in round three but opened the event with a 283 to tie for second at the time.
The Eagles return to the course Sunday for the Rod Myers Invitational, hosted by Duke in Durham, North Carolina.
