Women's golf releases 2024-25 schedule

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University head women's golf coach Shannon Sykora has released the schedule for the 2024-25 season. The Eagles will play in several new tournaments in the upcoming season.

"We're looking forward to getting back out on the course," said Coach Sykora. "I think this is a really good schedule that's been put together. We're going to some new tournaments this year and some tournaments that we've been to previously that will provide a stiff challenge for us this season."

FGCU opens up the season in Columbia, Missouri at the Johnie Imes Invitational, hosted by the University of Missouri Sept. 23-24. The tournament will take place at The Club at Old Hawthorne. This will be the 16th consecutive year that Mizzou has hosted the event.

The Eagles will return to the Sunshine State for the first of five tournaments in Florida. FGCU will take part in the Pat Bradley Invitational, hosted by Florida International University at Trump National Doral Sept. 30-Oct. 1. The tournament is played on the "Ble Monster" course that hosted a PGA Tour or World Golf Championship event from 1962-2016. The tournament was held in Lakeland Ranch last season, with FGCU placing third.

The Green and Blue will travel west once again for their next tournament, this time heading to Hot Springs, Arkansas for the Little Rock Diamante Intercollegiate Oct. 20-22. The last time that FGCU played in a tournament hosted by Little Rock was in the fall of 2022 when it was at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational.

The final tournament of the fall for FGCU will be Oct. 28-29 across the state of Florida in Coral Gables. The Eagles will take part in the Hurricane Invitational hosted by the University of Miami at the historic Biltmore Golf Course.

Spring starts with four familiar tournaments for FGCU. The Eagles will head to Jacksonville Jan. 27-28 for the Sea Best Intercollegiate hosted by Jacksonville University. Amelie Alcantara finished seventh in last year's tournament.

The Eagles will look to defend their title from the Ball State Puerto Rico Classic Mar. 4-6 in Las Palmas, Puerto Rico. FGCU rallied from sixth place after round one to win the tournament in the spring of 2024. The Green and Blue would take the team title by seven strokes, with Posie Farrelly finishing in a tie for second on the individual leaderboard.

FGCU comes back to Florida for the Spring Break Invitational in Dade City, hosted by Western Kentucky University Mar. 17-18. The Eagles finished in a tie for fourth last season at the event, with Alcantara placing fifth individually.

The Eagles will make a return trip to Kennesaw, Georgia for the Pinetree Intercollegiate Mar. 24-25. The event is hosted by former Atlantic Sun Conference member Kennesaw State University. FGCU came in third place in the tournament last year as rain washed out the second day of the event.

The final tournament of the regular season will be Mar. 31-Apr. 1 as the Eagles head back to Jacksonville for the Furman/UNF Invitational. Co-hosts Furman University and the University of North Florida both reached the regional round of the NCAA Championship last season.

The regular season ends for FGCU in Huntsville, Alabama at Hampton Cove Country Club in the ASUN Championship. The winner of the Apr. 13-15 tournament will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
