GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University women's golf team closed out play at the Gators Invitational on Sunday afternoon, finishing ninth overall after three rounds at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. Hosted by the University of Florida, the tournament featured several nationally ranked programs and provided the Eagles with another opportunity to compete against a strong field.
FGCU posted team rounds of 294, 297, and 296 to finish the tournament at 47-over par.
Sydney Deal paced the Eagles with a three-round total of 8-over, while
Leonie Wulfers and
Gia Culler-Guerra also turned in consistent performances throughout the event.
Lousiane Gauthier and
Amelie Alcantara rounded out the lineup, helping the Eagles accumulate 31 birdies, good for the fifth-most in the field, while the team also tied for eighth with 158 pars over the three rounds.

Sydney Deal led the way for the Eagles, finishing at 8-over for the three-round event to tie for 30th overall. Deal carded rounds of 73, 72, and 73, closing the tournament with a 3-over final round. She also tied for the 16th-most birdies in the field with eight over the three days of competition.
Gia Culler-Guerra finished at 13-over overall to tie for 41st. She opened the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 74 before closing with a 75 in the final round. Her tournament was highlighted by the seven birdies across the three rounds she holed, tying her with Gauthier for the 23rd-most birdies in the field
Leonie Wulfers followed closely behind, finishing at 14-over for the tournament to tie for 45th. Wulfers posted rounds of 77, 74, and 73, also shooting 3-over in the final round.
Lousiane Gauthier concluded the tournament at 15-over, finishing tied for 48th overall. Gauthier opened with a 71 before carding rounds of 77 and 77 and matched Culler-Guerra with seven birdies during the tournament.
Amelie Alcantara rounded out the Eagles' lineup at 20-over, placing in a tie for 59th overall. Alcantara turned in rounds of 76, 79, and 75 during the event and recorded several key pars to help the Eagles maintain steady scoring throughout the weekend.
As a team, the Eagles finished with 31 birdies, the fifth-most in the field, while also tying for eighth in total pars with 158 over the three rounds. FGCU posted team rounds of 294, 297, and 296 to finish the event at 47-over overall against a competitive field that included multiple nationally ranked programs.

The Eagles will travel west to compete in the Bell Bank Pay It Forward Collegiate on March 23-24 in Wigwam, Ariz.
