Florida Gulf Coast University's women's tennis team ended its four-match winning streak after falling 5-2 at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.
"Today was a challenging day and we will learn a lot from this match," said FGCU head women's tennis coach Courtney Vernon. "Mercer handled the elements better than us today. We look forward to playing again next week.

The Green & Blue (4-5, 2-0 ASUN) lost the doubles point to begin the morning.

The Eagles responded in singles, as Isabella Colmenares gained the Eagles' first point delivering a strong 6-1, 6-0 showing at No. 2.
The Bears (4-3) then took control and never looked back winning courts No. 1, 5, 3 and 4. Fanny Norin fell 6-2, 6-1 followed by Ida Fording's 6-3, 6-2 loss. Paloma Goldsmith dropped her match with a 6-2, 6-3 decision and Jordana Ossa fell with a 6-3, 6-4 score.
Amelia Kopel took the final point for the Green & Blue, winning 7-6 (6), 6-3 at No. 6

The Eagles return home Saturday, March 2 as they host Miami University (5-5) at the FGCU Tennis Complex. The first serve is set for 11 a.m.
