Box Score Florida Gulf Coast University stormed to a dominant 6-1 victory at Queens University of Charlotte to push its winning streak to four Thursday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This was also the Eagles' second Atlantic Sun Conference win after defeating Bellarmine Wednesday in Kentucky.
"The ladies are taking steps each time they compete, learning more and more how to work as a team and compete for each point," said head coach
Courtney Vernon. "They are looking forward to playing again on Saturday against Mercer."
The Eagles took the doubles point to get the day started as
Isabella Colmenares and
Gabriela Macias won 6-0 at No. 3 before
Jordana Ossa and
Paloma Goldsmith took a 6-1 victory to put the Eagles on the scoreboard.
In singles action, FGCU (4-4, 2-0 ASUN) continued its dominance over the Royals (0-10, 0-1 ASUN) as Colmenares stormed to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 before
Ida Ferding won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5.
Ossa added another point for the Green & Blue winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4.
Lola Glantz would easily clinch the match with a 6-1, 6-2 showing at No. 6.
Fanny Norin rallied through three sets to add the final point to the Eagles score with a 5-7, 6-3, 10-4 victory.
The Eagles will return to action Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mercer in Macon, Georgia.
