FORT MYERS, Fla. - FGCU softball earned the first win of the 2024 season by way of run rule against Georgetown, 10-2.
Meagan Ricks recorded three hits, driving in one run and scoring twice herself.
Angelina Bonilla continued her stellar start to the season, going 2.1 innings against Georgetown with zero earned runs, bringing her total to nine innings of work with no earned runs given up.
"We all hit together," Ricks said. "We had been hitting in clumps, but we strang a bunch of hits together and scored some runs."

Allison Sparkman had her collegiate debut on the night. Sparkman put up two innings of three up, three down work in the second and third before she handed the ball the Bonilla. Bonilla recorded four strikeouts in just eight batters faced.
"I've been getting ahead with first pitch strikes and locating my pitches," Bonilla said. "I'm trusting my (Coach
Cortney Radke) and my catchers. They are always encouraging me. They're always telling me to get ahead and trust my stuff."
Sam Leski started and finished the offensive onslaught for the night with a double that brought in Ricks and
Kayleigh Roper. Leski drove in run 10 for the Green and Blue as
Nikki Gibson scored the final run of the night.
The bottom of the sixth started with the game still close, the Eagles only leading 4-2.
Annalyn Duncan started the sixth inning with her first collegiate RBIs when she singled to right field, bringing
Maria Angelino and
Avery Viancos home and a 6-2 lead.
McKenzie Wittenberg kept the ball rolling, coming off the bench for a pinch hit RBI and a 7-2 lead. Roper stepped up next and brought
Emily Chiarella home followed up with a Gibson single to left, scoring Wittenberg and leaving the run rule just one run away.
Leski then doubled home Gibson and the game ended 10-2.
FGCU now improves to 30-0 over the past four seasons when scoring six or more runs and 17-0 since 2023 when swiping three or more bases.

The first game of the night went to extras. FGCU tied the game up in the fifth with
Riley Oakes driving in two runs. Oakes recorded two hits during the game, her second multi-hit game this year.
No more runs would cross the plate and a scoreless eighth brought on the ninth when Boston College scored in the top of the frame.
Tiffany Meek would drive in the tying run to send the game to the tenth. Boston College would drive in an unanswered run to secure the win.
