FORT MYERS, Fla. -
Tiffany Meek records a three-hit game against Long Island University and
Riley Oakes gets two free passes against Louisville in a two-loss day at the FGCU Kickoff Invitational.
The day started against LIU. The Sharks had a 3-0 lead going into the final frame but the Eagles would not relent. Three straight singles by
Neely Peterson through the left side,
Maria Angelino to center field, and
Caridad Estes to right center allowed the first run of the day to score.
Estes proceeded to steal second to put the tying run in scoring position but the game ended in a 3-1 loss for the Green and Blue.
FGCU got a one game break before facing Louisville.
Ally Hulme took the mound and pitched a stellar second to fifth inning. Hulme retired seven straight from the start of the second inning until the first out of the fourth. She faced 13 batters to record the twelve out over the four frames.
Up next for the Green and Blue is a rematch on Sunday with Louisville. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
