FORT MYERS, Fla. –
Alise Petrova from women's cross country and
Brody Stevenson from men's golf have been named the Florida Gulf Coast University Suncoast Credit Union Scholar-Athletes of the Month for October.
A junior from Riga, Lativa, who is pursuing a degree in Analytics and Informatics and currently has a 3.58 GPA. On the course, she was named Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year at the 2024 ASUN Championship with her time of 17:42.9. She finished 21
st out of 96 runners and is Green & Blue's first ever Freshman of the Year award winner.
Stevenson is pursuing a degree in management and has posted a 3.97 GPA. He produced his best round of the Rod Myers Invitational in Durham, North Carolina with one-under 71 to tie for 30th overall. During day one action of of The Clerico in Tulsa, Oklahoma he sneaked into the top 25 behind a one-over 71 effort. He soared up 22 positions late in the day after his opening-round 75.
This is the fourth year Suncoast Credit Union has been the title sponsor of the FGCU Athletics Scholar-Athletes of the Month. The award dates back to the 2011-12 season.
