FORT MYERS, Fla. – The remainder of The Island at West Bay Club Collegiate Invitational has been canceled due to unplayable conditions and impending inclement weather. 

Tournament host FGCU began the opening round Sunday at 8:30 a.m., playing until noon as most of the starting five made or were nearing the turn. At the time of the horn, FGCU sat in seventh place among a 14-team field at one-over-par.

Rounds one and two were scheduled to take place Sunday with the third and final round of the 54-tournament set for Monday.

Sebastian Gamboa (-3) had climbed up into a three-way tie for second on the player leaderboard through his first eight holes, trailing the tournament leader from Eastern Michigan by just one stroke. Tom Scullion and individuals Daniel Polce and Sacha Ruiz were tied for third at two-under par.

FGCU returns to the course later this month (Oct. 28-29) in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for The Clerico hosted by Oral Roberts University.
