Piers earns 16th-place finish at FSU Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Bramwell Havi took sixth out of 342 runners at the Florida State University Invitational and helped the FGCU men's cross-country team to an eighth-place overall finish. The Missouri native stopped the clock in 24:55.9, which is now the seventh-best 8k time in program history.

"Overall, the men's team had much improvement from our last race," interim head coach Alvaro Rivadeneira said. "Franklin Caceres also had a good race and ran a personal best time. We can still improve on things that will take us to the next level as a team."

Caceres stopped the clock at 25:39.7 and took 38th place, and Hudson Jessep, finished 71st and produced a 26:07.0 showing to round out FGCU's top-100 finishers.

"Our women's team raced more aggressively from the start and used this as an opportunity to see where we can improve as we get closer to the ASUN Championship," Rivadeneira said. "We have a lot of room for growth and are on a positive trend with our races and workouts going into the middle part of season."

The women's team finished 16th overall and was led by Karley Piers, who placed 16th with an 18:08.5 showing. She also paced all runners from the ASUN, and her time was the 10th best in FGCU program history.
