FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU women's golf team will officially get back underway for the spring portion of its schedule as the Eagles take part in the FAU Paradise Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 7-8. The tournament will take place at the Osprey Point Golf Club and will be played as a Par 72 covering 6,204 yards.
The Eagles played in three tournaments during the fall portion of the schedule highlighted by fourth-place finishes at the FAU Jupiter Women's Invitational and the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational. FGCU was scheduled to play a dual match with Michigan in January, but it was cancelled.
The Paradise Invitational features four top-50 programs in the field highlighted by No. 5 Florida, No. 20 Arkansas State, No. 38 Vanderbilt, and No. 39 Mississippi State. Overall, the 15-team field has 10 teams ranked in the GolfStat.com Top 100.
After the fall schedule, the Eagles are led by
Laura Edmonds (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Cypress Bay) who holds a 70.89 scoring average through nine rounds. She had four rounds in the 60's including a low of 65 in the final 18 holes of the Jupiter Women's Invitational where she finished with a 206 total. Her 70.89 scoring average ranked 25
th nationally after the fall portion of the schedule which stands as the best ranking in program history.
Haley Yerxa (Ottawa, Ontario/Hillcrest) and
Anouk Casty (Basserdrof, Switzerland/Academia) are averaging 73.78 and 74.50 strokes per round, while
Posie Farrelly (Lutz, Fla./George Steinbrenner HS) is averaging 76.22 strokes. Yerxa picked up her first career outright win at the Pat Bradley Invitational with a 54-hole total of 212. Just behind her was Edmonds who tied for second.
Monday's first round is slated for an 8 AM shotgun start with the Eagles playing alongside Colorado State and Seton Hall. Live scoring will be available through

Since taking over the program in 2011, Sarah Trew has guided the Eagles to 46 top-five finishes, including 34 over the past six seasons. On top of that, she led the program to a pair of second-place finishes in the ASUN Championship in 2016, 2017, and 2019, signifying the best finishes in program history. She was named the ASUN Coach of the Year in 2015-16 and has guided FGCU to some of its best statistical seasons in program history

ABOUT FGCU
FGCU teams have combined to win an incredible 87 conference regular season and tournament titles in just 14+ seasons at the Division I level. Additionally, in just nine seasons of D-I postseason eligibility, the Eagles have had a combined 43 teams or individuals compete in NCAA championships. Eight FGCU programs have earned a top-25 national ranking in their respective sport - including women's basketball (No. 25, 2021-22), beach volleyball (No. 20, 2021) and both men's soccer (2018, 2019) and women's soccer (2018) as three of the most recent. In 2016-17, the Green and Blue posted a department-best sixth-place finish in the DI-AAA Learfield Directors' Cup and top-100 showing nationally, ahead of several Power-5 and FBS institutions. In 2018-19, the Eagles had an ASUN and state of Florida best seven teams earn the NCAA's Public Recognition Award for their Academic Progress Rate in their sport. FGCU also collectively earned a record 3.50 GPA in the classroom in the fall 2020 semester and has outperformed the general University undergraduate population for 24 consecutive semesters. The 2019 Fall, 2020 Spring, 2020 Fall, and 2021 Spring semesters each saw another milestone reached as all 15 programs achieved a 3.0-or-higher team GPA in each. The Eagles also served an all-time high 7,200 volunteer hours in 2017 - being recognized as one of two runners-up for the inaugural NACDA Community Service Award presented by the Fiesta Bowl.
