MACON, Ga. – After an up-and-down 36 holes on Monday, the FGCU women's golf team turned in their best score with a 301 on Tuesday afternoon to finish the Brickyard Collegiate in seventh place overall with a two-day score of 926. The score marked the fourth lowest of the final round and moved the Eagles up two spots from their ninth place standing after Monday's action.
A trio of Eagles finished among the top-20 individually for the tournament as sophomore
Sarah Edwards (Jay, Fla./Jay) tied for 20
th, senior
Natalia Nassar (Bucaramanga, Colombia/Colegio Panamericano) tied for 22
nd, and junior
Laura Edmonds (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Cypress Bay) tied for 26
th. Redshirt senior
Ailsa Clark (Navarre, Fla./Navarre) finished tied for 31
st as all four scorers finished within a three-stroke spread.
"We played much more consistent today," said head coach
Sarah Trew. "I am proud of the team for showing resilience. We have about a week to clean things up before we compete for an ASUN title."
UCF won the overall team title with a 54-hole score of 892. The Green and Blue were just six strokes behind No. 41 North Florida.
Edwards led FGCU with a two-day total of 230, followed by Nassar's score of 231. Edmonds, who shot a par 72 on Tuesday, finished with a 232, while Clark was a stroke behind.

rd (254), while
Sophia Warren, playing as an individual, tied for 71
st (253).
Edmonds' 72 on Tuesday tied as the fifth lowest score of the third round and was the best of any Eagle during the two-day tournament. After going into the turn at plus two, she tallied two of her four birdies on the day on the back nine and stayed par-or-better on her final 10 holes of the afternoon.
Nassar also had her best round on Monday with four birdies as well to finish with 75. She posted back-to-back birdies on No. 9 and No. 10 to get to even. After going three over on the next six holes, she birdied No. 17 before picking up a bogey to close out the day at three over.
Clark shot 76 to tie her best round of the tournament highlighted by a clean back nine performance and 11 consecutive holes at par. Edwards recorded a score of 78 after running into some trouble on No. 7. She started the day with six straight pars before a triple bogey sent her into the turn plus four.

Haley Yerxa (Ottawa, Ontario/Hillcrest) had her best round with a score of 82 as did junior
Sophia Warren (Lakewood Ranch, Fla./Seminole State College), who played as an individual, at 81 for the day.
FGCU entered the competition ranked No. 87 in this week's GolfStat.com team rankings. The 14-team field is led by No. 31 UCF followed by No. 42 North Florida. Overall, including the Green and Blue, 10 programs are ranked in the top 100 including host Mercer, South Florida, Furman, Kennesaw State, and Chattanooga.
Following Monday and Tuesday's action, The Eagles will then have nearly two weeks to prepare for the 2021 ASUN Championship which will be hosted from April 18-20 at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga.

Since taking over the program in 2011, Sarah Trew has guided the Eagles to 42 top-five finishes, including 30 over the past five seasons. On top of that, she led the program to a pair of second-place finishes in the ASUN Championship in 2016, 2017, and 2019, signifying the best finishes in program history. She was named the ASUN Coach of the Year in 2015-16 and has guided FGCU to some of its best statistical seasons in program history

ABOUT FGCU
FGCU teams have combined to win an incredible 85 conference regular season and tournament titles in just 13+ seasons at the Division I level. Additionally, in just nine seasons of D-I postseason eligibility, the Eagles have had a combined 40 teams or individuals compete in NCAA championships. Eight FGCU programs have earned a top-25 national ranking in their respective sport - including women's basketball (No. 21, 2020-21), beach volleyball (No. 20, 2021) and both men's soccer (2018, 2019) and women's soccer (2018) as three of the most recent. In 2016-17, the Green and Blue posted a department-best sixth-place finish in the DI-AAA Learfield Directors' Cup and top-100 showing nationally, ahead of several Power-5 and FBS institutions. The Eagles also served an all-time high 7,200 volunteer hours in 2017 - being recognized as one of two runners-up for the inaugural NACDA Community Service Award presented by the Fiesta Bowl.
