MATCHUP
FGCU, which remains second in the nation in 3-point field goals made, 3-point field goals attempted and 3-point field goals made per game, will face another tough challenge against North Florida. The Ospreys are holding opponents to 30.3 percent from long range, which is second best in the conference behind Jacksonville. In fact, the Dolphins just held the Eagles to a 6-for-15 performance last weekend, which signified the second lowest total attempts and makes from 3-point range for FGCU in a game this year.

THE GREEN AND BLUE
FGCU enters Thursday's matchup riding a 10-game winning streak that has propelled the program to its first top 25 ranking in one of the two national polls for the first time since April 2015. The Eagles, who were already the nation's No. 1 ranked mid-major team according to CollegeInsider.com and espnW, also received three votes in the AP Poll for the second consecutive week. They're 8-1 all-time as a ranked team with all of those coming in the 2014-15 season.

In addition to the winning streak, FGCU has won 14 of its past 15 games. They've recorded at least one double digit winning streak in each of the past eight seasons, and the team's win over Jacksonville this past Saturday gave the team its 14th straight season with 20 or more wins.

Also, with the win over Jacksonville, FGCU is now in sole possession of first place in the ASUN standings. With two wins this weekend, the Eagles would own at least a two game lead over every other team with six games left in the regular season.

The Eagles remain the only team in the ASUN with four players averaging double figures in scoring - Rosemarie Julien (12.8 PPG), China Dow (10.4 PPG), Nasrin Ulel (10.2 PPG) and Taylor Gradinjan (10.0 PPG). Erica Nelson (Kansas City, Mo./Lee Summit North HS) also averages over nine per contest.

Gradinjan (Cudahy, Wis./Cudahy HS), who eclipsed 1,100 career points against Lipscomb and now has 1,115, needs 21 more to pass Stephanie Haas (1135, 2012-16) for seventh most all-time, and she's currently played four fewer career games than Haas. She needs one more game played to pass Katie Meador (135, 2012-16) and move alone into third most all-time, and she is six starts shy of passing Adrianne McNally (118, 2006-10) for second most. Additionally, Gradinjan needs three more made field goals to pass Kelsey Jacobson (385, 2008-12) for seventh place, and she now has 958 field goal attempts.

Tytionia Adderly (Jupiter, Fla./Cardinal Newman HS) is just 10 rebounds shy of eclipsing Gradinjan (458) for seventh most on the career list. She's just two offensive rebounds shy of passing Kaneisha Atwater (186, 2013-16) for sixth all-time. Julien (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast HS) is shooting .818 from the line in her career, which is just shy of Kelsey Jacobson (.819, 2008-12) for the best mark in program history. Julien is 19 points shy of 700 in her FGCU career, which has spanned 58 games.

Dow (Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy of Louisville) is just 13 points shy of 900 in her NCAA career, which started at Middle Tennessee.

FGCU features the ASUN's top scoring and rebounding sophomores. Ulel (Murrietta, Calif./Murrietta HS) averages 10.2 points, while Adderly averages 8.4 rebounds. In fact, Adderly also leads all sophomores in steals at 1.7 per contest.

Head coach Karl Smesko is approaching his 600th career game as a collegiate head coach. This will be his 598th career game, and he holds a 485-112 (.811) record.

FGCU's winning streak is tied for the 10th longest in the nation.

SCOUTING NORTH FLORIDA
North Florida is led by 6-1 senior forward Keonna Farmer, who is averaging 16.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. In ASUN play, she has upped her scoring output to 20.8 PPG, which is the best in the league. 5-11 senior guard Tesh Hanson is averaging 11.4 points and 6.6 rebounds. They're the lone two averaging double figures for the Ospreys, although Tiffany Tolbert and Adrienne Jackson check in at 8.8 points per contest.

As a team, North Florida is second in the ASUN in steals at 9.2 per game, and Farmer's 2.6 per game is best on the team.

SERIES HISTORY
FGCU is 21-2 all-time against North Florida, which includes 17 straight wins dating back to a 73-51 win on Dec. 2, 2010. Three of the wins during the streak came in the postseason, seven of them came in Jacksonville and every one has been by at least an 11-point margin.

COACH SMESKO
FGCU head coach Karl Smesko rallied the 2016-17 Eagles to their seventh-straight 25-win campaign, which culminated in the team's fourth NCAA tournament appearance in six seasons of eligibility. The seven-time ASUN Coach of the Year was named the espnW Mid-Major Coach of the Year in 2015-16 following a run that witnessed the Eagles finish a best-ever 33-6. Over a five-year stretch starting in 2011-12, FGCU racked up four ASUN seasons with a perfect record and capped the run with back-to-back 30 plus win seasons. In 2014-15, the team earned its first top-25 ranking and another NCAA Tournament trip as a seven seed, where FGCU won its first ever NCAA Division-I Tournament game against No. 10 Oklahoma State. With 26 wins in 2016-17, Smesko has guided the Eagles to 13-straight 20-win seasons. He maintains a record of 424-85 (.832) at FGCU, including a 163-15 (.915) mark in ASUN play. Over the past six + seasons, he has guided FGCU to a 99-3 (.970) record in conference play with four undefeated seasons. Smesko earned his 400th career coaching win in 2014-15 in just 493 career games, two games faster than UConn's Geno Auriemma. He holds a career head coaching record of 485-112 (.811). Smesko ranks among an elite list of just four active Division I coaches with a career win percentage of .800 or higher, joining Auriemma, Baylor's Kim Mulkey and Stanford's Tara VanDerveer in the esteemed group.
