#30 @FGCU_WSwim Dives Into CCSA Action Saturday Against UNF, Campbell

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With its first meet of the year under its belt, the #30 FGCU swimming and diving team continues its season with its first conference matchup. The Eagles will face CCSA opponents Campbell and host North Florida at Uible Pool on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m.

The Eagles come in with a perfect 9-0 all-time record against UNF and most recently defeated the Ospreys, 159-95, a season ago before outscoring them by 1,300 points at the CCSA Championships. FGCU is also undefeated against Campbell – although the two teams have not met in the regular season since the 2014-15 campaign – and out-scored the Camels by 700 points at the championships this past February.

In addition to the dominant records against UNF and Campbell, FGCU is an incredible 35-1 versus conference opponents in the 10-year history of the program.

"The girls are pretty pumped after some solid swims against Rutgers, and we are looking forward to keeping this momentum going," said FGCU head coach Dave Rollins, whose team defeated the Big Ten member two weeks ago, 199-116. "Remembering the fine details is going to be important this weekend. We have some girls competing in events they normally don't get to race, so it should be a fun meet. Our goal is to stay focused, race smart and have fun while we race two strong conference opponents."

With only that one meet completed so far this year, the Eagles have already received national recognition for their efforts in the pool. The team is currently ranked #30 overall in CollegeSwimming.com's latest poll, and has been tabbed as the #2 mid-major program in the country behind Rice.

In addition to the team success to start the year against the Scarlett Knights, junior Gracie Redding was named the CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 10 after posting five 1st-place finishes against Rutgers. Redding (Orlando, Fla./Florida State/The First Academy) secured individual wins in the 50 free (23.62) and 100 free (51.36), and then teamed up to claim victories in the 200 medley relay (1:44.98), 200 free relay (1:34.45) and 400 free relay (3:26.67). All told, she was part of 55 total points – claiming 18 of those on her own with the pair of freestyle wins.

The meet against UNF and Campbell will the last in the month of October for the Eagles, who return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 4, at in-state foe Florida for a 10 a.m. dual meet.
