FORT MYERS, Fla. – Hoping to build off of a momentous road win the FGCU women's soccer team returns home to face UCF Sunday at the FGCU Soccer Complex. The Eagles and Knights are slated to begin at 1 p.m. on the 15th anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.

In observance of the anniversary, Sunday's game will serve as Military and First Responders Appreciation Day, with all current and former military members and first responders, and their families, receiving free admission with a valid ID. Fans are encouraged to wear red, white, or blue as FGCU will recognize these groups at halftime.

Live stats will be available on FGCUathletics.com. In addition, a free video stream will also be available through ASUN.tv.

Tickets for individual matches remain at $7 for adults and $5 for youth and military. An All Sports Pass is again available at $100, which gives fans admission to all ticketed FGCU home regular season events, excluding men's and women's basketball. Group rates are also available for matches. For more information, please call the FGCU Ticket Office at 239-590-7145. Tickets can also be purchased at FGCUTickets.com.

LAST TIME OUT
FGCU secured its second win in program-history over the Miami Hurricanes Thursday night in Coral Gables. The Eagles held the nation's No. 6 scoring offense in check, shutting out the Hurricanes in a 1-0 victory for the visiting side. Tabby Tindell (Ocala, Fla./Trinity Catholic HS) scored her 25th career game-winning goal, heading home an Ali Rogers (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) cross in the 55th minute. Melissa Weck (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) made four saves, as Miami was shutout for the first time in 2016. The 'Canes entered the match ranked in the Top 10 in eight offensive categories, but were held to just four shots on goal, matching their lowest output of the season.

STAYING DEFENSIVE
Following the graduation of Brittany Brown and Emma Blackwell, the Eagles looked to true freshmen Weck and Lindsey Patton (Jacksonville, Fla./Oakleaf HS) to fill the voids. The Eagles are currently on pace to have one of the best seasons in FGCU history, holding a goals against average of 0.65. Of the six games FGCU has played, the Green and Blue have limited opponents to one goal or fewer in five contests, posting a clean sheet in three matches.

The Eagles currently rank 52nd nationally in shutout percentage (0.50), 53rd in goals against average (0.646), and 46th in save percentage (0.857).

Individually, Weck is 53rd in the NCAA with a 0.646 goals against average and 48th with a 0.875 save percentage. With three shutouts, Weck has put herself in elite company checking in at No. 14, two clean sheets behind the NCAA leaders.

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
Entering the weekend on a three-match winning streak, UCF is fresh off of a 5-0 win over FIU to bring its record to 4-3 in 2016. The Knights are a tested team, with all three of their losses coming against Top 25 competition. UCF has wins over Massachusetts, Oklahoma State, Stetson and the aforementioned Panthers this season. Carol Rodrigues spearheads the Knights offense with six goals, placing her Top 10 in the nation in total goals. Courtney O'Connell has three goals to aid in the attack.

In goal, Vera Varis has two shutouts to her name, posting a 1.42 goals against average.

FGCU is 0-3-1 all-time against UCF. FGCU and UCF played to a scoreless draw in 2011 in Orlando, the only result for the Eagles in the series. There has only been one other match played in Fort Myers, a 4-0 win for the Knights. The Eagles and Knights did play in an exhibition last year, a 2-1 win for the Green and Blue.

#TINDELLTRACKER
Already atop the FGCU record books in goals scored (54) and points (131), Tindell now has her sights set on FGCU's assists record and multiple ASUN records as well. The senior forward has two goals and one assist already in 2016 and is now five assists away from tying FGCU's assists record of 28, currently held by 2013 graduate Ashley Ciesielczyk.

Should Tindell score seven more goals, the Ocala-native will be tied atop the ASUN record book with 61 career goals. Should she add another goal to break the record or tally two more assists, Tindell will share the title of the ASUN's all-time points leader. Centenary's Shelley Marusak (1993-1995) is currently the all-time leading goal scorer in ASUN history while Jacksonville's Marit Foss (1997-2000) headlines the ASUN's points category.

COACH JIM BLANKENSHIP
A veteran of over two decades in collegiate coaching, head coach Jim Blankenship, who was named the ASUN Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, 2014 and now 2015, has built FGCU women's soccer into a yearly contender in the Atlantic Sun Conference and a rising program in the South Region in just nine seasons. Blankenship started the program in 2007 and has since guided the Eagles to nine double-digit win seasons, culminating with Atlantic Sun Regular Season Championships in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015. In 2011 and 2012 he also led the Eagles to back-to-back ASUN tournament championships and became the first team in the history of the university to make it to the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles went on to win the 2014 ASUN tournament and host the first NCAA Championship event on campus. The Eagles earned their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance with the 2015 ASUN Tournament Championship and won their first NCAA game at USF in 2015, while finishing 24th in the nation. Blankenship has guided FGCU to a 117-44-19 (70.7 W%) overall record through the first ten seasons of the program's existence, including a 60-9-10 (76.2 W%) mark in the ASUN. Blankenship's impressive career record of 357-115-30 (74.3 W%) over 25 seasons has come while leading FGCU, the University of Miami, Lynn University and St. Thomas University.
