#12 @FGCU_MSoccer’s Game At Jacksonville Postponed Due To Hurricane Matthew

JACKSONVILLE – The #12 FGCU men's soccer team will have to wait a few extra days to try and continue the nation's longest winning streak as the Eagles' ASUN game on Saturday at Jacksonville has been postponed due to Hurricane Matthew.

A make-up date has not been finalized yet, but will likely occur later this month.

The match was scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday, and efforts were made to move the game back a day, to FGCU or to a neutral site, but due to several factors related to Matthew the two sides elected for postponement.

After starting the season 0-2-1, FGCU has rattled off eight-straight wins – one more than Pacific for the longest active streak in the nation and tied for the longest in program history.

The Eagles – who hold a record-high ranking of #12 this week – boast the country's most potent offense as well. FGCU leads the nation in goals (35, next closest: 28) and points (98, next closest: 16), and is tied in assists (28, Maryland and Denver). FGCU has had the National Player of the Week each of the last three weeks in Albert Ruiz (twice) and Arion Sobers-Assue (once) as the Eagles are on pace for an unprecedented season.

FGCU is now scheduled to return to the pitch at home against I-75 rival USF on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. The Bulls began the season ranked #17 and have received votes in the national polls most of the year. The highly-anticipated contest is the first of a four-game homestand for the Green and Blue. Tickets to see the high-flying Eagles are still available and can be secured by logging on to FGCUTickets.com.
