PENSACOLA, Fla., - The FGCU women's Cross Country took first place in the Gulf Coast Cross Country Stampede on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles won with a team score of 27 easily outdistancing 2nd place West Florida. It marked the first team win in school history.
Megan Thies took second overall in the event with a time of 19:31 while freshman classmate Angela Hegge was right behind with a 19:37. Thies set a new school record with her time. Cadie Sly crossed 5th overall with a 19:41 while Taylor Cooke finished 10 seconds behind for a 6th place finish. Kim Gallagher finished with a mark of 20:49 for an 11th place finish.
The Eagles will be in action again next weekend at the Walt Disney World Sports Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
