FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's soccer dropped its ASUN opener on the road, 3-0 at West Florida on Saturday night.
The Argonauts (1-3-1) found the back of the net three times, all in the second half. Nikolas Rodriguez Alzate broke the tie on a turnaround try near the top of the box in the 50th minute. Pedro Henrique Cidade Santos gave the Argos insurance in the 73rd minute, scoring off a set piece. In the 87th minute, Adrian Rodriguez sealed the game for UWF on a breakaway.
The Eagles (2-3-0) controlled the first half, outshooting West Florida 5-3. FGCU did not allow a shot on goal to the Argonauts until the final minute of the period. The second half was a different story, as UWF took nine shots, seven of which were on goal. The Eagles only recorded five shots on goal throughout the game.Â
Next, FGCU will play at home for the first time in 2026 against North Florida (2-2-1) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Pickering Field.
