Fico adds Eekhoff for 2027

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast softball head coach Lindsay Fico announced Emma Eekhoff as the fifth signee out of the 2026 transfer portal on Thursday.

"We are thrilled to add Emma to the Eagle family," head coach Lindsay Fico said. "We enjoyed watching her compete at a high level during her time at IRSC. Her passion, willingness to work hard and the confidence she brings every time she steps in the circle will be crucial to our success this year."

Eekhoff comes to FGCU from Indian River State College. While at IRSC, she compiled a 19-6 record with a 1.38 ERA and 210 strikeouts. She was tabbed as the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week twice to go with a NJCAA D1 Pitcher of the Week award. Eekhoff was selected to the All Citrus Conference Team and to the All-Tournament Team. Academically, she was on the Dean's and President's List, and was in the top 10% of student-athletes.

In high school, Eekhoff earned First Team All-State, First Team All-Conference and All-District honors. She was also named the 4A All-Tournament Team Captain, and won the state championship her senior year for head coach Katie Mayhew. She played club for coach Ken Timmesch at Eastern Iowa Barracudas. Prior to focusing solely on softball, she was also a competitive swimmer.

The daughter of Lori and Eric Eekhoff, Emma has one sibling, Eli. Her mother, Lori, competed in track and field at Northern Iowa, and her uncle ran track at Tulsa. Eekhoff will major in exercise science at FGCU and aspires to become a physical therapist.
