FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast softball head coach Lindsay Fico announced Kennedy McQuillan as the fourth signee out of the 2026 transfer portal on Wednesday.

"We are super excited Kennedy has decided to be an Eagle," head coach Lindsay Fico said. "We've competed against each other and have admired the way she plays the game. We have witnessed the type of player and teammate she is, and we couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to coach her."

McQuillan comes to FGCU from North Florida, where she spent two years. As a sophomore, she slashed .280/.366/.463 with eight doubles, two triples and a home run. She started 25 of her 40 games played in 2026, primarily at DP. She hit her first career home run against Montana (Feb. 22) and tallied triples in back-to-back games against Tennessee Tech (Feb. 26). McQuillan recorded a pair of multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 day with a pair of doubles at Queens (April 3). Two weeks later, she delivered her signature moment of the season with a come from behind, extra innings, walk-off two-run double to beat the Royals at home (April 19).

As a freshman, she hit .267 with eight hits, six runs and four RBIs. She started in 11 of her 18 appearances. McQuillan notched her first career hit against Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 12) to start a four-game hitting streak and recorded her first two-hit game of the season against George Mason (March 1) with two runs scored. She also drove in a pair of runs to help in a win against Siena (Feb. 23).

McQuillan played for her father, Jay, at Lake Nona HS. She led Lake Nona to back-to-back district titles in 2021 and 2022. A multi-time All-Metro East selection and former Miracle Sports Second-Team All-State honoree, she capped her high school career as the Florida Varsity Rivals Top Center Fielder in the State of Florida. She earned a national ranking of No. 49 in the Extra Innings Elite 100 after a spectacular junior season in which she hit .519 with 41 hits, 35 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases. She played club for Kevin Hinde at Team NC (North Carolina) Hinde.

The daughter of Kristin and Jay McQuillan, Kennedy has one sister, Kiley. Her mother, Kristin, played golf at Southern Miss, and her sister, Kiley, played softball at Flagler College. Her grandfather, Steve Hutnik, also golfed for Lafayette College. McQuillan will major in communications with a minor in public relations at FGCU and aspires to work in the sports industry.
