Harmon adds Moore to staff

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast women's basketball head coach Raina Harmon announced the addition of Amber Moore to the staff as an assistant coach on Monday.

"We're thrilled to add Amber Moore to our staff," Harmon said. "She brings tremendous experience from Syracuse and has been part of winning programs at a high level, including helping Buffalo win a conference championship alongside Felisha Legette-Jack. Amber has a great eye for recruiting and player development, but what really stands out is the way she builds genuine relationships with people. She brings incredible energy every single day, has Power 4 experience, and understands what it takes to compete and win. I'm excited for the impact she's going to have on our players and our program as a whole."

"I'm excited for the opportunity to join FGCU and get to work with a program that has such a strong culture and standard of excellence," Moore said. "From the moment I connected with Raina, I could feel the energy and commitment to excellence. I'm passionate about building relationships, creating a high-level environment for our student-athletes, and doing whatever it takes to help this team compete and win."

Moore joins FGCU following four seasons at Syracuse, where she was promoted from Director of Operations to assistant coach. She spent her first three years with the Orange leading all aspects of daily operations, overseeing travel, scheduling, recruiting logistics, and game-day coordination, before transitioning to an assistant coach role for the 2025-26 season, where she contributed to player development, on-court instruction, and scouting.

Prior to Syracuse, Moore served as Director of Operations at the University at Buffalo during the 2021-22 season. The Bulls captured a conference championship that year under head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. Moore previously served as an assistant coach at Canisius College (2020-21), where she focused on recruiting, post player development, and opponent scouting, and at Houston Baptist (2019-20), where her responsibilities included scheduling, recruiting, player development, and scouting. She began her coaching career as an assistant at Saint Leo University, working with both post players and guards while contributing to academics, travel logistics, and fundraising.

Moore was named a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Thirty Under 30 honoree in 2018, recognizing her as one of the nation's top rising coaches in women's basketball.

A standout player at Illinois, Moore is one of 13 players in program history to score 1,000 career points. She earned All-Big Ten Freshman Team honors in 2010 and was a 2013 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient. Moore graduated as the program's all-time leader in three-point field goals (295) and career free throw percentage (.840). She went on to play two seasons of professional basketball overseas in Slovakia and Finland.

Moore earned her bachelor's degree in applied health sciences from Illinois in 2013 and her MBA from Saint Leo University in 2019.
