WICHITA, Kan. – Florida Gulf Coast sophomore
Jon Embury has been named one of five finalists for the Buster Posey Award, the Wichita Sports Commission announced Monday morning.
The FGCU player is one of five finalists for the award. Of the five finalists, Embury is the only one not from a Power 4 conference program and he is the only catcher recognized from the state of Florida. He is joined on the exclusive list by Chase Fralick (Auburn), Daniel Jackson (Georgia), Vahn Lackey (Georgia Tech) and Carson Tinney (Texas).
Embury becomes the first FGCU player to be named a finalist for the award, given annually to the top collegiate catcher in the nation.
