SANFORD, Fla.- The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles lost five players to the Major League Baseball Draft in July, but according to Perfect Game, the Eagles have retooled just fine, as two of their incoming freshman have been ranked in the top 250 in the country and six were tabbed in the top 18 of the ASUN incoming freshmen list heading into the 2027 season.
The Eagles top ranked freshman was infielder Tripp Hannah who checked in at No. 181 on the list. Hannah prepped at Bishop Snyder High School in Jacksonville where he helped lead the Cardinals to a 23-8 record as a senior last season. Right-handed pitcher Ethan Dejesus was No. 247 in the rankings. Dejesus showcased a big arm that ran into the mid-90s for Sumner High School in Riverview, Fla.
In the ASUN rankings, six of the top 18 incoming freshmen were Eagles. Hannah was ranked the second best incoming freshman to the league with Dejesus right behind him at No. 4 while outfielder Austin Knierim was ninth to highlight the new faces for FGCU.
Another Eagle in the rankings was infielder Jonah St. Antoine who was No. 37 on the Juco transfer list. St. Antoine spent two seasons at Florida SouthWestern where he was a .415 career hitter with 24 extra base hits and 60 RBIs in 61 games played for the Bucs.
The Eagles begin their fall season at home on October 22
nd when they host Miami Dade at Swanson Stadium.
