GREENSBORO, N.C.- Following a 36-win season on the diamond in 2026, the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles proved that they were also getting the job done in the classroom this season as Wednesday the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) honored the Blue and Green with the 2025-2026 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award.
The Eagles posted a cumulative 3.20 GPA as a team this year to earn the award. Their 3.22 GPA during the spring semester was the second highest in-season GPA in program history and marked the sixth consecutive semester of a 3.00 or better GPA as a team.
FGCU Head Coach
Dave Tollett said "We are really proud of the work our players put in in the classroom this year to continue the tradition of academic excellence in our program."
Leading the way in the classroom was a quartet of ASUN All-Academic Team members in
Jaret Nelson,
Ashton Pocol,
Hunter Possehl, and
Logan Baisley who made up the Eagles largest All-Academic Team representation in program history.
FGCU was one of just three ASUN schools to earn the award, joined by Lipscomb and North Florida on the 2025-26 list.
