Ruiz was sharp early, picking up birdies on holes one and four to reach 3-under through four holes before a rough stretch through the middle of the front nine, bogeys on five and six and a double bogey on the par-3 seventh, sent him to the turn at 2-over with a 38. He responded with a strong back nine, carding birdies on holes 11, 14 and 17 to offset bogeys on 10 and 12 to close with a back-nine 35. His five birdies on the day are tied for the ninth most in the field.
Moore was steady throughout, relying on ball-striking consistency rather than the hot hand. His lone birdie came on the par-5 sixth hole on the front nine, but a bogey on eight and a bogey on nine left him at 1-over on the front nine. The back nine was a picture of steadiness, he parred eight of his final nine holes, with only a bogey on 18 standing between him and an even-par back side. He closed with a back-nine 37 for a 2-over 74. Moore's 14 pars on the day are tied for the second most in the field.
Figueredo was even par through four holes before three consecutive bogeys on holes five, six, and seven pushed him to 3-over at the turn with a 39. He bounced back on the back nine, picking up birdies on holes 13 and 14, but bogeys on holes 10 and 15 offset those gains, and he finished with a back-nine 36 and a final score of 3-over 75.
Gamboa was electric early, going birdie-birdie on holes five and six to reach 2-under through six holes and make the turn at 2-under with a sharp front-nine 34. The back nine proved costly, however, as double bogeys on holes 10 and 18, sandwiched a bogey on 16, leading to a back-nine 41 and a final score of 3-over 75. Gamboa's 13 pars on the day are tied for the seventh most in the field.
Harper faced an uphill climb from the opening nine, recording a bogey on hole three and a double bogey on the par-4 fifth to reach the turn at 3-over with a 39. His back nine showed some resilience, a birdie on the par-4 14th gave him a brief bright spot, but bogeys on holes 10 and 12 proved too much to overcome, and he finished with a back-nine 37 for a 4-over 76. Harper's 13 pars on the day are tied for the seventh most in the field.
As a team, FGCU's 59 pars are the second most in the field through the opening round.
