JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's tennis team will be the No. 5 seed and face No. 4 Eastern Kentucky as the Eagles host the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships next week. The tournament, which runs Apr. 14-18, will be held at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
Seedings for the tournament were announced Thursday afternoon by the conference office, and were determined by a committee that evaluated rankings and performance. The ASUN did not play a conference schedule this season.
The Green & Blue will face No. 4 seed Eastern Kentucky (11-14) in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, Apr. 15 at 9 a.m. By virtue of being seeded in the top six of the 10-team field, FGCU (8-13) gets a first-round bye.
FGCU's men's program is 17-8 (.680) all-time in the ASUN Tournament, with a 5-3 (.625) record when hosting the tournament. The Eagles have won the tournament three times – in 2015, 2017 and 2023. This year marks the fourth time FGCU has hosted the full championship.
Wednesday's match-up will be the first time the Eagles and Colonels will meet in ASUN Tournament play and the third meeting between the two teams overall. To date, the series is tied, 1-1, as EKU claimed a 4-3 decision in a 2024 meeting in Richmond, Kentucky. FGCU responded last season with a 6-1 win over the Colonels in Fort Myers.
The winner of the FGCU-EKU match will advance to Friday's semifinals, set for 9 a.m. They will face whoever emerges from the top quarter of the bracket between No. 1 seed North Florida (13-7), No. 8 seed Austin Peay (4-10) and No. 9 seed Bellarmine (4-14).
All 10 ASUN institutions that field a men's tennis program will compete in the 2026 championship. Other teams participating, along with their seeds and season records (as of Wednesday afternoon) are as follows: No. 2 North Alabama (13-8), No. 3 Stetson (10-6), No. 6 Lipscomb (10-10), No. 7 Abilene Christian (8-6) and No. 10 Queens (1-12).
Action begins with the first round on Tuesday, Apr. 14 as No. 8 Austin Peay faces No. 9 Bellarmine at 9 a.m. Tuesday with No. 7 Abilene Christian battling No. 10 Queens at 5 p.m.
