FORT MYERS, Fla. -
Sacha Ruiz has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Thursday.
The sophomore led Florida Gulf Coast University to a runner-up team finish at the Giles-Spratley Collegiate, capturing his first collegiate individual championship with a share of the title at 9-under (207) after rounds of 69, 66, and 72.
Ruiz opened the tournament with a 3-under 69, recording six birdies, before delivering a stellar second round of 6-under 66 that marked the second-lowest round of the day. His round featured eight birdies, including six on the back nine, as he surged into a share of the lead. Ruiz closed with an even-par 72 on Tuesday, adding two birdies to secure his portion of the individual title.
Across the three rounds, Ruiz totaled 16 birdies, which tied for the second-most in the field, while his 14 birdies through two rounds led all competitors, highlighting his consistent scoring ability throughout the tournament.

Andrew Danna. "He played great golf all week and it paid off with him getting his first collegiate win."
Next up for the Eagles is the ASUN Championship, set for April 21-23 in Valdosta, Ga. at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
