FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast men's soccer head coach
Oliver Twelvetrees announced the addition of assistant coach
Austin Gorman on Wednesday.
"We are excited to welcome
Austin Gorman to the FGCU men's soccer staff," Twelvetrees said. "Austin brings strong experience from a championship winning NCAA D1 level, and a genuine passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field. His energy, professionalism, and commitment to excellence makes him a fantastic addition to our program. We're looking forward to the impact he'll have within our team and culture here at FGCU."
"I'm truly excited to have joined this program and get started," Gorman said. "I'm very appreciative of the coaching staff for giving me this opportunity and welcoming me aboard. I look forward to getting to work and contributing to the success of the program."
Gorman joins the Florida Gulf Coast University men's soccer staff as an assistant coach following a successful tenure at Robert Morris University. During his time with RMU, Gorman served as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach, helping guide the program to two consecutive playoff appearances. In 2024, he played a key role in leading the Colonials to their first Horizon League Championship under head coach Jon Potter. He also mentored goalkeeper Josh Lane to All-Conference honors, an All-Northern Region selection, and a spot on the Horizon League All-Tournament Team.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Gorman previously served as the assistant director of goalkeeping for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. He holds a USSF National C License, a United Soccer Coaches Level III Goalkeeping Diploma, and is set to pursue his Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma in the summer of 2026.
Prior to his time at Robert Morris, Gorman was an assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg for two seasons. In 2022, he helped lead the Bobcats to a 9-7-4 overall record and a 4-2-1 mark in AMCC play, advancing to the conference semifinals. Under his guidance, goalkeeper Danny Rodgers earned third-team all-conference honors, while four additional players received all-conference recognition. In 2021, Gorman contributed to a 7-10-1 campaign that snapped an eight-year playoff drought, while also helping Rodgers and midfielder Ross Hartley earn all-conference selections.
Gorman began his coaching career following a four-year playing career at La Roche University, where he was a four-year starting goalkeeper. He helped lead the Redhawks to four consecutive AMCC playoff appearances and ranked No. 33 nationally in NCAA Division III in saves per game as a freshman. A two-time AMCC Defensive Player of the Week, Gorman also served as team captain his senior season and delivered key performances in conference tournament play, including a standout showing against Franciscan in the 2016 playoffs.
