FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast (19-29, 13-8 ASUN) will begin the month of May and end the regular season with a series at Stetson, starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 1.
The last time out, the Eagles used strong showings from their seniors en route to a senior day win over Queens.
Nikki Gibson singled to drive in
Sietske Drijvers, and
Sophie Wylie crossed home after a throw reached the backstop to put FGCU up 2-0 in the first inning.

FGCU continued the run parade in the second.
Parris Wiggs and
Tiffany Meek hit back-to-back singles, and advanced into scoring position on the throw from Meek's single. The Eagles took advantage of a Queens defensive miscue, with two Royals' errors on the same play off the back of Black, allowing both Wiggs and Meek to score. Drijvers was hit by a pitch for the second time, and she and
Olivia Black pulled off a double steal for Black's 99th career stolen base.
K'Mari Williams collected one of her career-high three hits on the day with an RBI infield single to bring Black home, and
Mackenzie Leiti scored Drijvers with an RBI single of her own to cap off the four-run second inning.
Grace Taylor (8-9) entered in relief and finished off a spectacular weekend of softball in the circle, allowing only one hit in four innings out of the bullpen. She was named the ASUN Pitcher of the Week after scattering six hits over 13 innings of work and allowing just one run. She tallied five strikeouts in the series. The senior ace now has a 2.40 ERA and a 6-3 record in ASUN play. In the midweek game at USF, she gave up one run in 1.2 innings of relief.
FGCU is led by Black at the plate, who's hitting .329 with 47 hits and 16 stolen bases.
Mackenzie Leiti homered in the series against Queens for a team-best seventh of her freshman campaign. Drijvers has thrown out an ASUN-best 16 runners behind the plate, and Taylor has been the ace in the circle, with a 3.97 ERA over 118.0 innings pitched.Â
Stetson enters at 31-19 and 16-5 in ASUN play. An Eagles sweep would guarantee FGCU a top-4 seed in the ASUN Championship, but the Hatters control their own destiny to a top-2 seed with a two-game lead over Jacksonville and a three-game lead over FGCU heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
Nicole Edmiaston leads Stetson in most offensive stat categories. The FSW transfer and former teammate of
Sietske Drijvers and
K'Mari Williams is hitting .462 with 22 home runs and 66 RBIs for a 1.536 OPS. Logan Forman (13) and Irianis Garcia (11) also have double-digit home runs for Stetson. In the circle, the Hatters are led by Ava Braswell and Hayley Arnold. Braswell has a 3.03 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 136.1 innings pitched, and Arnold adds 53 punchouts and a 4.14 ERA across 76.0 innings.
The Eagles took the first series between the two teams 2-1 behind a 10-7 shootout win and 4-3 walkoff victory. FGCU leads the all-time series with Stetson 34-28, but is just 9-20 on the road. The last time the Eagles made the trip north to DeLand was in March of 2025; the Hatters won the series 2-1. The May series will be the first between the two squads since 2021 and the second all-time.
